ABSTRACT

Cinematic virtual reality (cine-VR) brings a new set of tools and a new set of ideas to healthcare education. A productive cine-VR team will incorporate expertise from a wide variety of areas. To do otherwise is detrimental to utilizing this new medium to its full potential. Cine-VR improves the authenticity of experience on a headset and therefore enhances the application of knowledge, skills, and attitudes to complement a healthcare professional or student's authentic expertise in ways that didactic lecture, skills lab with mannequins, and standardized patients cannot. Cine-VR provides a superior form of dynamic simulation learning for a specific health discipline or interprofessional team. Embracing cine-VR's use for healthcare education allows for robust learning with many advantages over traditional learning and traditional simulation. Cine-VR provides an enhanced, immersive simulation experience that improves the learning, skill acquisition, and attitude development of healthcare students and professionals.
