ABSTRACT

The body of work and tools that constitute Giving Voice to Values (GVV) is aimed at ameliorating a specific type of challenging situation that most people will face during their professional lives. This chapter explores relationship through the lens of GVV's three-fold aim: showing that action is possible; guiding those who have decided to act; and promoting practices that build moral muscle memory. One of the fundamental tools employed in GVV is the exercise titled "A Tale of Two Stories". GVV similarly recognizes the influence that organizational culture and policies can have on either fostering an environment that enables people to act on their values or the converse. Pragmatist ethics also has much to say about human limitations that is of value to how the people think about GVV. GVV seeks to guide people who have decided to exercise their freedom and act to make a positive difference.
