ABSTRACT

Taxpayers suffer if an auction ring suppresses the revenue the government receives in a spectrum auction for mobile service providers. When teaching managerial economics or MBAs, the author do his best to steer clear of topics that appear in textbooks primarily because they are interesting to economists. One of the appeals of GVV is that the cases are free and they cover a broad spectrum of fields. Due to the fact that most of the author teaching is lecture-driven, when starting GVV the author was apprehensive about what to do if students do not engage. Assessment is particularly tricky because, in the author experience, what accreditors mean by assessment is not the common understanding of the term. For example, in the aftermath of the Great Financial Crisis, US banks holding TARP funds were restricted from offering performance-based pay to executives.
