ABSTRACT
In this introduction chapter we describe our autoethnographic approach, summarize the relevant literature on intersectionality, and specify our intended audience for the book. To avoid assuming we all have the same working knowledge about existing scholarship of the LGBTQ+ community, we provide a synopsis of the published literature in the section of “What We Know”. Next, we provide guidance to readers on productive ways to engage with the content presented in the book regardless of their past experience or personal beliefs. We provide a detailed description of our collective commitment to quality and ethics as the foundation of this work. Specifically, we outline our process in working with the authors for transparency including our consideration for the unspoken voices within the stories we tell.
