ABSTRACT

The final chapter brings together the book through a summary and synthesis of the themes across the chapters to offer insights on how authors' experiences with oppression have shaped their sense of belonging in STEM, influenced their persistence in STEM fields, and affected their career choice and career path. The new insights into LGBTQ+ experiences in STEM have implications for micro-level and macro-level inclusion efforts to create a welcoming environment where talented LGBTQ+ individuals can thrive. This chapter provides insights and recommendations to support the development of education efforts that are geared toward different audiences such as students, faculty, staff, and administrators. The chapter concludes with recommendations related to future research on LGBTQ+ inclusion in STEM.
