ABSTRACT

This case study explores the challenges of a refurbishment to a hotel while staying open for business and the added value opportunities that lie within the confines of the hotel’s land. From the personal viewpoint of the general manager, it also demonstrates the organizational benefits that can arise from the simplest of questions, a great deal of encouragement together with a business environment that allows thought, involvement and room for individuals to fulfil their potential. It most definitely took the general manager out of his comfort zone but allowed him to learn some new skills and work with some wonderful and highly skilled individuals.
