ABSTRACT

For anyone who has ever harboured dreams about opening a small hotel in the countryside, this case contains many valuable lessons. It is the story of an enterprising young couple, Camille and Hugues who took the risk to invest and launch their own hotel from scratch on the family farm in Normandy. It recounts problems, expected and unexpected including raising finance, renovation and operational issues as well as finding the right market segment in a time of a global pandemic. Despite all these tribulations, the couple offer positive advice on planning, staffing and guest relations for all prospective small hoteliers.
