ABSTRACT

This chapter addresses the critical issue of diversity of worldviews within the community. Recognizing the diverse impact of not only the market but of the politics of the day, they take a counter-intuitive position and argue for non-conformist/radical politics to confront unequal citizenship based on race. The call is for a politics that goes beyond liberal politics for the obvious reasons, i.e. a radical critique of the preservation of the status quo. The implications in this chapter are that confronting race cannot be done in a vacuum, it must address the social issues that confront the community. Stated differently, organizing has to take on not only the existing diverse views but one also has to challenge the unfiltered thinking that is imposed by the meta narrative of the market economy.
