ABSTRACT

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is currently a noticeable regional IO in all senses, which tries through its activities to fill the norms of international law in the field of interstate cooperation and international security with additional meaning. The expansion of the SCO by the entry of India and Pakistan to its members has threatened to sharpen the conflict between them onto the Organization’s level. Though, this situation has created the potential for turning the SCO into a platform for solving those conflicts and providing multilateral cooperation in the Eurasian geopolitical space. The SCO became an organization of political cooperation, mainly in the field of non-military security, and concentrated its efforts on combating terrorism, separatism, extremism, and other emerging challenges such as transnational crime, illegal migration, and cyber security. The authors convince in the possibilities for the convergence of national legal values of SCO countries and universal legal values recognized by the global community.
