ABSTRACT

Injury treatment modalities are commonly used by sport practitioners to help their patients/clients achieve their goals. Treatment modalities such as electrotherapy, soft tissue techniques, stretching, trigger points, myofascial release, joint and peripheral mobilisation, hydrotherapy, cupping and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilisation are some of the most important tools that a therapist can choose from. The choice of which modality to use may depend on a specific condition, patient’s needs and goals. This chapter will look at the rationale for use of a modality and its safety considerations.
