ABSTRACT

The world faces multiple crises in the form of the COVID‑19 pandemic and its aftermath, climate change, inequality and the rise of authoritarianism. These crises have in turn exposed weaknesses in leadership, not just in leaders but in our perceptions and expectations of leadership, leading us to argue that leadership itself is in crisis and must change. The introduction sets out the structure of the book, embracing multiple perspectives from established and new authors, and describes the aims the book sets out to achieve.
