ABSTRACT

This chapter explores changing views of and expectations of leadership on the part of younger generations, Generation Z and Millennials, and how their views differ from the older “baby boomer” generation. Younger people are more comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity, but they also demand more freedom. The pandemic, the authors say, offers us “a chance to explore what we want out of life and re-evaluate the directions we are taking to create the future we want to see.” The older generation needs to recognize these changes, and at the same time be available as a source of wisdom to younger generations and help them to keep from re-inventing the wheel.
