ABSTRACT

Although much work has been done in the fields of academic and social training for the backward child, very little has been done in the aspects of his education which deal with health and physical training. The importance of the ‘physical’ approach in the education of all children has long been recognized, but the need for the adaptation of physical training syllabi for the peculiar needs of the backward or dull child, has hardly been explored, despite the obvious fact that it is with his body the child will probably earn his daily bread. For the backward child it is particularly important that health education instruction be presented in an extremely practical way. The amount of apparatus to be used in a programme of physical education for dull children is of prime consideration.
