ABSTRACT
Place and Ecosystem are two factors that complement each other, and help grow and retain investors. They both have an increasingly important role to play when it comes to driving economic growth. Place gives vibrancy to a host economy, binds different agendas and activities together, and translates economic policies, public sector ventures and local characteristics into experiences that people can relate to. Ecosystems is the interplay of different local actors who both collaborate and compete and that creates local value. Moreover, paraphrasing the idea that it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a whole Ecosystem to grow a [foreign] company. This chapter provides examples of programmes that foster connectedness, support linkages and strengthen the economic fabric of the host economy. Place and Ecosystem play an important role when it comes to orchestrating the host economy to be an attractive, welcoming and fertile location where foreign investors can grow.
