ABSTRACT

This chapter provides examples of the wide range of Investor Services currently being delivered by IPAs both large and small, and in both developed and developing economies. Each service is presented in the same format: description, main beneficiary, implementation and intended outcome. The chapter is split into 5 categories of services. Administrative services include introductions to service providers, working with regulators, finding new premises and immigration services. Operational services include support to find new premises, export support services, workforce development and access to finance. Strategic services include business case services, mentoring and innovation linkages, supply chain and value chain offerings, including matchmaking services, non-equity modes of investment and joint ventures. Sustainable services include leaner and greener practices, driving the gender agenda and philanthropic activities. The chapter closes with an analysis of Amazon’s request for proposals to build a second headquarters (HQ2), which created one of the most competitive business attraction processes in history.
