ABSTRACT

One of the most essential elements of any educational program is the provision of positive and constructive feedback in response to student behavior. This feedback serves to guide students in using contextually appropriate behavior and acquiring new skills essential to living self-determined lives. In this chapter, the authors will describe the powerful role that feedback plays in the education of all students including those with ESN. Further, they will offer a framework and several strategies for the effective delivery of meaningful, culturally responsive, and respectful feedback. Finally, they will provide guidance on how to thin schedules of feedback such that they represent levels of feedback available in natural communities.
