ABSTRACT

Chapter 33 explores the impact of COVID-19 on sport in South Africa. In recent years South Africa has emerged from its political challenges, including national healing in this democracy post-apartheid. Here, sport and the hosting of major events has played a significant role in the development of the nation. Against this background, this chapter discusses the key innovations and adaptions deployed by the sport sector in South Africa in efforts to maintain sport activity in readiness for the post-pandemic recovery.
