ABSTRACT

This chapter affirms the importance of political philosopher and critical theorist Nancy Fraser’s work on the concept of justice for social work. In exploring the economic, cultural and political dimensions of justice, it introduces important, if complex, ideas which require careful reading and reflection. Readers who are willing to grapple with the complexities of justice work, played out increasingly on a global stage, are rewarded by access to a theoretical framework that enables social work to move beyond polite nods to justice as an appealing idea, towards a just professional practice.
