ABSTRACT
The fourth Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) Senior Experts Dialogue on Science, Technology and Innovation and the African Transformation Agenda was held in December 2017, in Dakar, Senegal. In 2011 ECA, jointly with the Switzerland-based African Innovation Foundation, launched an annual Innovation Prize for Africa, which aims to reward regional innovation in the areas of science, technology and engineering. ECA helps to organize the annual African Science, Technology and Innovation Forum, which was established in 2018 as a multi-stakeholder event to promote debate and the exchange of knowledge in all aspects of science, technology and innovation, and in particular their contribution to the pursuit of the SDGs. In March 2019 ECA, the AU and the AfDB-supported by the UN Conference on Trade and Development-issued their ninth joint Assessing Regional Integration in Africa report; this addressed the development of the African Continental Free Trade Area.
