ABSTRACT

In accordance with the 2018 reforms of the UN development system, the Development Coordination Office (DCO) was repositioned as a stand-alone office within the UN Secretariat, and assumed managerial and oversight functions of the resident coordinator system, under UN sustainable development group (UNSDG) supervision. The 2019 Sustainable Development Report, issued in June, urged transformations in areas of skills and jobs, health, clean energy, cities, biodiversity and land use, and digital technology, as well as the development of related strategies and roadmaps, as a means of reinvigorating the pursuit of the SDGs. The UN committee for development policy was requested to give due consideration to the particular vulnerability of small island developing states when monitoring their progress upon graduation from formal least developed country status.
