ABSTRACT
In March 1996 member countries signed a Reform Protocol of the Cartagena Agreement, in accordance with which the grouping was reinstituted in August 1997 as the Comunidad Andina de Naciones. It is the main policymaking organ of the Andean Community, and is responsible for co-ordinating Andean trade policy. The Andean Community contributed to the development of a subregional Input-Output Matrix, part of a regional Input-Output Matrix which was launched in November 2015 by the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean to facilitate analysis of sectoral value chains, economic complementarity and trade flows. In December 2010 the Andean Committee of Tourism Authorities approved an Agenda for Tourism Development in the Andean Community, which aimed to develop the region as a major global tourism destination, by facilitating tourist flows between member states and promoting innovative tourism products. The Andean Community General Secretariat dispatches observer teams to monitor elections in member states.
