ABSTRACT

The Council consists of ministers responsible for Caribbean Community (CARICOM) affairs, as well as other government ministers designated by member states, and is responsible for the development of the Community's strategic planning and co-ordination in the areas of economic integration, functional co-operation and external relations. Inaugurated in May 2015, the CARICOM Committee of Ambassadors-chaired by the Chairperson of the Community Council of Ministers-is tasked with providing strategic advice, recommendations and support to the Community Council of Ministers and with facilitating the implementation of the Community Strategic Plan. The CARICOM Secretariat is the main administrative body of the Caribbean Community. In May 2018 CARICOM and the Commonwealth Secretariat concluded an Memorandum of Understanding on co-operation covering the promotion of sustainable development and more inclusive growth; combating climate change; strengthening the resilience of small and other vulnerable states; justice reform; crime and security; and youth, sports and gender.
