ABSTRACT

The Congress examines past activities and financial reports of the Confederation; reports on the activities of International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) regional organizations and on the Council of Global Unions; addresses general policy questions; maps out future plans; considers proposals for amendments to the Constitution and other proposals submitted by member organizations; and elects the General Council, the General Secretary and the Confederation’s three auditors. In March 2020 ITUC issued a statement on the COVID-19 pandemic, in which it called on governments urgently to put in place economic stimulus plans and measures to protect the health and earnings of workers, and to guarantee sick leave and flexible working conditions over the course of the crisis. In March ITUC 2016 initiated a Supply Chain Resources Hub, tasked with collating reports and information from trade unions and related organizations, with a view to clarifying and influencing supply chains.
