ABSTRACT

In this chapter, we provide a comprehensive outline of clinical supervision, its meaning, its origins, and its evolutions. We conducted a systematic review of databases to locate the most recent empirical literature focusing on effective supervision, particularly from the perspective of supervisees. We were curious to find out more about (1) the experiences of supervisees in supervision; (2) supervision outcomes based on supervisees’ perceptions of the working alliance with their supervisor; and (3) the mediating variables that constitute effective supervision from the perspective of the supervisee.
