ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on clinical supervision during analytic training from the perspective of the supervisee. It describes the learning experiences that took place both in the classroom and in the supervision sessions. Through the supervision process, the supervisor helps her supervisee connect with her emotional experiences. By allowing herself to be vulnerable in the supervision and in the supervisory relationship, the supervisee is able to help her patients do the same, thereby facilitating significant progress in the treatment. This is illustrated through the case example of an analytic treatment with one particularly challenging patient.
