ABSTRACT

The Irish Parliament is known as the Houses of the Oireachtas. It is a bicameral legislature, consisting of Dail Eireann and Seanad Eireann. Ireland's parliamentary administration is known as the Houses of the Oireachtas Service (the Service). The Service provides advice and support services to the Houses of the Oireachtas Commission, to both Houses of the Oireachtas and their committees, and to the members of the Houses. The Commission is the governing board of the Service. The Service comprises a Parliamentary Services Division; a Parliamentary Information and Research Services Division; a Corporate and Members’ Services Division; and an Office of Parliamentary Legal Advisers. The Office of the Commission and Secretary General supports the work of the Commission, Finance Committee, Audit Committee and Management Board. It also supports the Secretary General in the implementation of the governance framework for the Service, including coordination of the Service's three-year strategic plans and performance review and reporting.
