ABSTRACT
The role of the Riksdag Administration can be summarized in one sentence: to support the Riksdag and the processes and bodies within it as well as its members. In addition, the administration informs the public on the Riksdag's work and decisions and preserves the buildings owned by the Riksdag. Also, according to its instruction, the Riksdag Administration must consider the requirements of the total defence and is responsible for the Riksdag's security and emergency preparedness. International relations – or parliamentary diplomacy – has been a growing activity for parliaments worldwide. These interactions take place on many levels and in many forms. However, two strains are worth describing in some detail because they are the most formalized, namely cooperation among parliamentarians in international organizations and the parliamentary dimension of Sweden's EU membership. Digitalization represents both ever growing challenges and fantastic opportunities for the Riksdag's Administration's efficiency and service to Sweden's elected representatives.
