ABSTRACT

This chapter outlines the efforts for the financial and administrative independence of the assembly staff in recent years while also giving an overview of the overall function and organization of the Staff of the Assembly of North Macedonia. The Assembly of the Republic of North Macedonia is the representative body of the citizens and holds the legislative power of the Republic. The MPs, elected by a proportional electoral system, have a four-year term, while the Assembly elects the prime minister, head of Government, and holds most executive power. The Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) was established with the support of the Westminster Foundation for Democracy and the British Embassy in North Macedonia in February 2018. PBO can also organize seminars and workshops in fiscal policy related to the financial and budgetary oversight of the Assembly of North Macedonia and exchange information with other parliaments, other state administration institutions, and international financial institutions.
