ABSTRACT

A project with several goals, executed in different markets and integrated in the clients’ design and strategic processes requires a bespoke approach. Unlike straightforward market research methods, design research methods are often tailored to fit the specific needs of a client brief. A design research plan is a detailed specification as to how the aims of a project can be met within the timeframe and budget available. The subsequent round of ethnographic immersions allowed the design research team to explore in even more detail some of the findings from the Co-Creation Labs. In regards to the service concept itself, meanwhile, the Design Documentaries produced from the immersions were used to map a number of further potential opportunity areas. Design Documentaries are based on the idea of empathic conversations between design researchers, the participants in the research and all stakeholders in a project.
