ABSTRACT

In Chapter 26, author Rudi Vermote makes a comprehensive overview of the work presented in this book and of working parties’ (WPs) approaches from his personal perspective. He offers a historical account of the origin of WPs’ methods, focusing on their bottom-up characteristics, their use of metaphors, and qualitative and exploratory research. He offers very simple definitions intended to ease the journey of the reader through this book. He concludes that from a research point of view, the three WPs that use a qualitative approach show results that can be implemented as discussed above. The three WPs that use an exploratory approach are rich in methodology but are mostly important in training right now – an aspect that is enhanced in the meeting of international groups.
