ABSTRACT
This is an introduction to the problems addressed within the book and sets the stage for the content to come by illustratively displaying current flood risk and damage levels in the coastal US. Further, we highlight key statistics and illustrate conditions related to vulnerability to current flooding as well as increased vulnerabilities in lieu of future sea level rise. These statistics and images describe and display conditions occurring globally and act as a primer for the contents contained in the rest of book and its remaining chapters which then also expand to global solutions, outside of only the US.
