ABSTRACT

Despite differing estimates from multiple organizations and sources, what remains clear is that the global sea level is rising. While there can be some debate to what extent this is occurring, planners and designers must begin to prepare for the effects of such conditions. This chapter discusses different climate change projections and their current and future impacts. This information is then integrated into design and planning forces including land use dynamics, as well as green (non-structural) and grey (structural) flood control mechanisms and the importance of their mixed applications and connections across both scales and locations.
