ABSTRACT
The flood mitigation management portfolios utilized and applied globally can vary. This chapter introduces some of these differences by examining and comparing some of the broad approaches and mechanisms applied by Houston, TX, New Orleans, LA, Japan, and the Netherlands. Through this discussion we offer a glimpse into some of the differing structural and non-structural strategies taken globally to combat sea level rise and flooding, building in geographic context and integrated policies.
