ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the multifaceted definitions and complexity of the term “creative writing.” In ESL/EFL contexts, creative writing has been used as teaching activities in the English language classrooms. This chapter argues that creative writing is arts-based researches approach that values participants' voices with the orientation to multilingualism and translingualism such as poetry writing, fiction writing, autoethnography, screenplay writing, and humanistic approach to assessing creative works. The chapter concludes with overview of each chapter in the edited collection.
