ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic and its prevention and control measures have made a big impact on normal economic and social functioning and the stability of global industry and supply chains. As a whole, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on agriculture and rural areas is less pronounced than that on other industries and cities. The spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has caused fear and panic, and prevention and control measures, such as strict control of traffic, village and road closures, shutdown of production, and prohibition of group gatherings, have also significantly influenced ongoing production and operation, employment, way of life, and entertainment. Compared with small rural households, family farms, farmers’ cooperatives, and other new types of agricultural businesses have large scale and great strength, surpassing traditional agricultural production cycles. During the rapid spread of the pandemic in China, some fresh and live agricultural products were unsaleable, and businesses suffered heavy losses.
