ABSTRACT

Contemporary variations of misogynoir include harsh judgment and stereotypes placed on Black women as adults and children that continue to influence the provided care and wellness of Black women. The mistreatment of Black women in counselor education serves to negatively impact the continued initiative of diversity along with the dismantling of discriminatory biases and anti-Blackness rhetoric. This chapter introduces misogynoir through a Black feminist lens and offers strategies to disrupt the perpetual harm Black women experience within and outside of the discipline.
