ABSTRACT

Business Intelligence (BI) was initially developed to solve analytical tasks, but it is now commonly recognized as a means of enhancing decision-making, lowering costs, and improving process and output efficiency. Most management divisions, such as marketing, purchase and selling, financial management, production management, marketing management, managing, human resource management, and so on, have BI applications that cover the analytical and planning functions. BI will help retailers turn data into actionable insights that help companies achieve business excellence. The study aims to examine the organizational performance in adopting BI in India’s various retail formats. A structured literature review is being performed using accessible databases, namely Science Direct, IEEE, Scopus, and Web of Science, by using the defined keywords: “business intelligence,” “retail sector,” “business intelligence adoption in retail sectors,” and “impact of BI in organizational performance” and their variations. For this technological–organizational–environmental framework has been used. Three independent variables, technological, organizational, and environmental, are taken. BI adoption (BIA) is taken as a mediating variable, and organizational performance is taken as the dependent variable. The target populations are mainly the employees working in those sectors. The analysis was performed utilizing SPSS 20.0 and AMOS 22.0. The validity parameters, such as convergent and divergent validity, were also found for providing empirical evidence. The hypotheses developed were tested using a structural equation modeling approach to get the model fit. The findings showed that organizational performance would be impacted in a positive manner in the retail sector. This study will be helpful for both the retail industry and the service providers.
