ABSTRACT

This introduction to the book provides an overview of Waldorf education and discusses an academic criticism of Waldorf education from the perspective of educational science. This critique reveals that the theoretical foundations of Waldorf education remain completely excluded from academic discussion. Despite this negative outlook, the increase of empirical studies on this pedagogy indicates that what was once regarded in a negative light is now gaining positive attention. Thus, this book seeks to provide a comprehensive scientific approach to the theory of Waldorf education to secure its place as valid teaching method within pedagogy and educational science.
