ABSTRACT

Artisans have specific knowledge about their craft that is learnt through an experiential process. Craft knowledge is often embedded in the practice of artisanship so it needs to be exchanged through direct interaction with others. This chapter highlights the need to integrate artisan knowledge through management practices. The role of social media and user communities in facilitating this process is discussed in this chapter. Thereby stressing the need to embed a community approach to the way artisan knowledge is managed.
