ABSTRACT

Women receive harmful messages about their reproductive and sexual health from an early age that influence their identities, health behaviors, and perceptions of intimate health and sexuality. Through open communication, positive and affirming messages, and moments of intervention, young women can be re-directed in how they understand and negotiate their sexual health. This chapter explores applicable moments of intervention for family members, friends, sexual health educators, and influential others to aid in socializing individuals of all ages to more holistic, positive perceptions of intimate health.
