ABSTRACT

The battle against disinformation and hostile influencing is a global affair. That is why, the relevance of the topic of disinformation proves high not only for academics interested in the how and the why, but also for citizens, experts, practitioners, and policy makers. This introductory chapter of the Handbook is aimed to provide to all interested readers a succinct survey of the topics addressed in the handbook, the methods embraced, and lastly, the approach collectively envisaged by authors in the distinct parts of the handbook—from theoretical to historical, to contemporary and regional specificities.
