ABSTRACT

This chapter examines the notion of strategic thinking from a Teaching and Learning leadership perspective and asks the reader to reflect on their strategic position. In line with the creative focus of the book, the chapter then continues providing interrogative space to help the reader to create a vision for a programme of Teaching and Learning. A number of analytical and envisioning tools and approaches are offered and pragmatically explained. These themes are then combined so as to ask the reader to consider a vision for their programme which is both strategically advantageous and creative and practically feasible within the constraints of a University organization. The chapter concludes by addressing how a leader may seek to facilitate the transition from vision to reality by obtaining political support, influencing stakeholders and building a supportive professional culture.
