ABSTRACT

This chapter will situate higher education (HE) policy and governance, which is focused on the development of human capital and value-for-money, against the institutional realities of working with difference. It will centre one institution’s engagement with learning and teaching projects at the intersection of Black Lives Matter/institutional racism and inclusive curricula/disability, in order to analyse particular models of pedagogic leadership.

In relating to governance, regulation and funding priorities of policy to these institutional projects, the chapter will articulate the possibilities and barriers for: prioritising activities based on difference; generating new relationships; managing workloads; curriculum design, delivery and assessment; and the deployment of resources and technologies.
