ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book resonates with previous work on return migration and transnationalism in the fields of education, linguistics, anthropology, and sociology. It analyzes the lives of transnational youth through Anzalduan lenses. Using various methodologies in harmony with Anzaldua’s work (testimonios, narrative inquiry, case studies, life history), the book provides examples of how transnational youth engage the complexity of identities and fight for their visibility on a daily basis. It presents research-based and theoretical contributions regarding transnational youth, and several of Anzaldua’s main theoretical constructs to recommend interventions to facilitate the journey of transnationals. The Anzalduan constructs help us to understand and talk about resistance as part of ethnic and identity studies which can serve all youths toward empowerment and mutual understanding.
