ABSTRACT

Discrimination on the grounds of sex can occur when women or men are treated unfairly by employers because of perceptions associated with their sex. Maternity, paternity and adoption policies are broadly similar across schools which makes it easier to know what to expect and what to ask for from Human Resources department ahead of time. For an increasing number of prospective parents, the planning stage is sometimes one of the most significant parts of the journey to motherhood or fatherhood. Teachers planning to adopt are legally entitled to five days paid leave to attend adoption appointments after they have been matched with their child if they are the primary adopter. Individuals can take control and shape their journey by being better informed and forging connections with The MTPT Project community and the other incredible organisations.
