ABSTRACT
The wealth of a few great families in Wales had been collected from workmen and produced by workmen; and he questioned the right of men to turn round with that wealth and try to starve the workmen, their families, and children. The mineowners of South Wales were making war, not against the men, who were fair game to fight, but they were infamously attempting to carry their designs by making war and bringing destitution upon the women, and carrying misery and starvation to the children. The employers in the Steam Coal Collieries refused to give it, and the refusal entailed a stoppage of the Collieries, which lasted for three months, and was eventually settled by the workmen resuming work at the rate they struck at, and the employers depositing five per cent.
