ABSTRACT

Islamisation of knowledge is an intellectual pursuit through critical examination and interpretations. Islamisation can be examined at both the theoretical and practical levels. Theoretically, it explains dimensions and aims, as well as identifying ways of implementation in a historical context. At the practical level, it aims to reformulate social sciences and applied sciences with regards to the Islamic world view. Divine knowledge embodies the objectives of human reason and provides checks and controls against intellectual deviation and spiritual perversion. I have highlighted the centrality of Islamisation regarding the interface between reason and revelation emphasising the need to embed the urgency of critical thinking in teaching and learning processes. Islamisation of knowledge will enable teachers to adopt critical and multidisciplinary approaches in such a way that students can connect the scripture with the reality.
