ABSTRACT

While Islamic education has always been delivered through face-to-face instruction, the current demands for e-learning force both educators and learners to embrace technology as one of the main avenues for learning. From the perspectives of instructional design, learning objectives and learning outcomes determine how Islamic education should be delivered and assessed, which will ultimately measure the impact of the curriculum on learners. Therefore, this chapter proposes a closer look into the fundamentals of instructional design, including constructive alignment when designing lessons that incorporate technology to ensure learning outcomes are achieved while addressing holistic approaches in a transformative approach to Islamic education. Relevant instructional design models will be elaborated to guide Islamic education teachers in designing their lessons that include the use of technology to keep abreast with the current trends in education.
