ABSTRACT

This concluding chapter offers a synthesis of the preceding material, presenting key points from each of the chapters and offering insight into potential future avenues to be explored in both research and practice. It questions how far away we are from providing good quality mental health care to people on probation and what needs to be done to support probation in achieving the ambitions set out in their Health and Social Care Strategy. The chapter provides a set of principles for how we can ensure that people on probation can access good quality mental health care and achieve positive mental health outcomes. In addition, it introduces an alternative service model which could be pursued – the healthcare worker role and Collaborative Commissioning Networks employed in Youth Offending Teams.
