ABSTRACT

Considering the crucial role of education in landscape heritagization, this chapter offers an overview of some of the approaches adopted, reflecting on the variety of didactic initiatives related to heritage landscapes. Although often underestimated, education towards landscape-as-heritage is closely related to social justice and landscape democracy. Education initiatives can take place before, during or after the heritagization processes, as a production, management or as a challenge to the authorized discourses. A processual and critical interpretation of learning practices might help in promoting it as a tool for landscape democracy and justice.
